• Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems for the Saudi entities ensuring compliance with US GAAP, IFRS and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare local statutory and corporate reports as required.
• Prepare monthly management accounts with narrative for senior management, the Board of Directors and Shari'a Board meetings
• Maintain internal controls (Sarbanes Oxley) and safeguards for all transactions (premiums, reinsurance, commissions, claims and expenses).
• Ensure that payables are paid within agreed service level agreements and captured accurately with sufficient detail in the general ledger for analysis. Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable.
• Ensure that receivables (premium, reinsurance and intercompany) are collected promptly in accordance with corporate guidelines and to ensure credit controls are enforced. This will include being on the local receivables committee as well as meeting with brokers to follow up on overdue premiums.
• Prepare provisions for doubtful debts to ensure they are adequate and are posted on a timely basis in accordance with US GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate all internal audit activity and follow up on the implementation of issues raised. Ensure that internal audit ratings are always "satisfactory". Manage the annual and interim audits.
• Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner
• Assist in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
• Oversee all projects to ensure expenditures are consistently aligned with the project budgets.
• Manage cash flow to ensure funds are available to meet commitments when they come due.
• Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with investment policies and regulatory guidelines. Provide reports to the investment committee.
• Provide for a system of management cost reports and controls to ensure costs are always within budget.
• Ensure that monthly bank reconciliations are completed and all suspense account items are cleared within 90 days of the transaction date.
• Maintain an orderly accounting filing system that is easy to follow.
• Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled
Requirements:
Qualified Accountant with a recognised International Accounting qualification - CA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA - ESSENTIAL
Able to speak, read and write Arabic - ESSENTIAL
At least 2 years + industry experience post qualification, ideally in Insurance |
